Lash Extensions Aftercare The Truth Is It’s Actually So Easy

Lash Extensions Aftercare The Truth Is It’s Actually So Easy

At BBA Studio, we believe aftercare is just as important as the application itself. That’s why every single client who walks through our doors leaves with more than just beautiful lashes—they leave with knowledge and confidence on how to take care of them.

Let’s break it down simply. No stress. No confusion. Just honest, easy lash care.

First things first: Getting used to your new lashes

If this is your first time, don’t worry—it’s normal to feel a little weird the first few days. You might feel like you have something on your eyes… because you do! But give it a few days. Most clients say by the end of the week, they don’t even feel them anymore.

Our Golden Rules for Lash Aftercare

1. Don’t rub, pull, or scratch your lashes.

Yes, even if they feel a little itchy at first. Just imagine they’re not there. That’s the best way to keep them looking flawless longer.

2. Brush them daily.

Just like your hair, your lashes need to be brushed. A quick brush in the morning keeps them fluffy and tidy.

3. Wash your lashes regularly.

This is where people get confused—but we promise it’s easy!

• Use a lash-safe cleanser, not regular soap or face wash.

• We love our BBALash Cleanser because it’s:

• Oil-free

• pH balanced

• Vegan

•  Lightly scented with rose water (yes, it smells amazing)

Pair it with our ultra-soft cleansing brush, designed to get between the lashes and gently clean the base—where most buildup happens.

How often should you wash your lashes?

If you don’t wear makeup daily and don’t have oily skin:

2–3 times a week is enough.

If you wear makeup regularly or have oily skin:

Every. Single. Night. Especially if you wear foundation or eyeshadow. The oil and makeup can build around the base of your lashes, leading to poor retention or even irritation.

 Let’s talk about mascara…

If you’re wearing mascara on volume lashes (especially at the base), we hate to break it to you:

Your next fill will have to be a full removal and a full set again.

Mascara can clump at the base, and even with the best remover, we can’t clean that without damaging your natural lashes. And if application is occurring on those lash-mascara lashes-the attachment isn’t happening properly, and retention isn’t there anymore. It’s just not worth it.

You with me?

Can I get them wet after the appointment?

Yes. Please do!

Gone are the days of “don’t get them wet for 24 hours.” With modern adhesives, especially the ones we use, the glue dries in 0.5 seconds. We even recommend a gentle lash rinse after your appointment—it calms down any adhesive fumes and feels super refreshing.

How to wash your lashes—step by step

1. Wet your lashes and your brush with lukewarm water.

2. Add foam cleanser to the brush.

3. Gently go over your lash line in circular motions—side to side and up and down.

4. Don’t forget the base of the lashes and the eyelid area.

5. Rinse and gently pat dry. Let it air dry or use a handheld fan.

6. Once dry, brush through your lashes.

No need for hard pressure. Think of it like washing silk—gentle, soft, but thorough.

Final Thoughts: It’s really not complicated.

When you know how to care for your lashes properly, they last longer, look better, and protect your natural lashes too.

Whether you’re a lash client or a fellow artist—educating yourself (or your clients) is key. At BBA Studio, we don’t just apply lashes. We educate, support, and empower every woman that walks through our doors.

Because beauty starts with care.

FAQ

1. What are the essential lash care tips for keeping my extensions looking fresh?

Brush your lashes daily with a clean spoolie, avoid rubbing or pulling them, and wash them regularly with a lash-safe, oil-free cleanser to prevent buildup and ensure long-lasting retention.

2. How to care for lash extensions right after my appointment?

You can get them wet immediately—modern adhesives cure in about 0.5 seconds. We even recommend a gentle lash rinse post-fill to soothe any adhesive fumes and give you a refreshed feel.

3. How often should I wash my lash extensions?

If you rarely wear eye makeup or have dry skin: 2–3 times per week.

If you wear makeup daily or have oily skin: every night, especially after using foundation or eyeshadow.

4. Can I use mascara on my lash extensions?

Mascara—especially at the base—will clump and compromise retention. Wearing mascara on extensions will require a full removal and new set, so we advise skipping it to protect your natural lashes and your fill.

5. What’s the step-by-step routine for washing my extensions?

Wet lashes and brush with lukewarm water.

Dispense foam cleanser onto the brush. Gently massage the base and lids in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry; air-dry or use a handheld fan. Once fully dry, brush through for that final fluffy finish.
